ROOF 101 ENGINE




The roof 101 engine is assembled & installed on the dyno. We will run it in for 3 hours & then begin the testing of various power combinations.

DYNO TEST #1     DUAL STROMBERG 97'S, FS IGNITION, CAST IRON HEADER, 22" SMITHY'S MUFFLER, 25 DEGREES TIMING
THIS WAS THE FIRST RUN AFTER BREAK IN. THE RESULTS ARE GOOD FOR THIS STREET COMBINATION.



DYNO TEST #2     DUAL STROMBERG 97'S, FS IGNITION, CAST IRON HEADER, 22" SMITHY'S MUFFLER, 28 DEGREES TIMING
WE INCREASED THE IGNITION TIMING FROM 25 TO 28 DEGREES BTDC TOTAL ADVANCE. THE ENGINE RESPONDED WELL.



DYNO TEST #5     DUAL STROMBERG 97'S, FS IGNITION, RED'S 4 INTO 1 TUBULAR HEADER, DYNO MUFFLER, 28 DEGREES TIMING
WE REPLACED THE CAST IRON HEADER & SMITHY'S MUFFLER WITH A RED'S HEADERS 4 TUBE INTO 1 COLLECTOR TUBULAR HEADER & OUR DYNO MUFFLER. THIS INCREASED THE TORQUE & HORSEPOWER.



DYNO TEST #6     DUAL STROMBERG 97'S, FS IGNITION, CHARLIE YAPP'S DUAL "Y" CAST EXHAUST INTO 2 SMITHY'S MUFLERS, 28 DEGREES TIMING
THE RESULTS OF THE EARLIER DYNO TESTS SUGGESTED THAT WE NEEDED A "TRI Y" STYLE HEADER WITH VERY LONG SECONDARY TUBES TO SMOOTH OUT THE TORQUE CURVE. WE CONSTRUCTED THIS EXHAUST SYSTEM USING 2" DIAMETER X 48" SECONDARY TUBES & A "H" STYLE MERGE JUST BEFORE THE MUFFLERS.
THIS EXHAUST SYSTEM BROUGHT THE TORQUE IN FASTER & HELD IT THROUGH OUT STREET RPM RANGES.
